Product Development
We design products, systems, and building elements for outstanding brands and demanding markets.
A product is a curious thing. It may look like an isolated entity, an object that unassumingly floats in a seamless white background. But rarely is the case where a product is not really a part of a larger constellation of systems, objects, assemblages, brand messages, and architectural spaces.
We believe product design must be done with a thorough understanding of where this object will inhabit. From a lighting system for a public building such as the Centro Cultural de España in Mexico City to a luxury brand packaging for one of the oldest tequila manufacturers, or even a humble, street vendor cart—every project belongs in a specific context, be it a brick and mortar space or a virtual social media community.
Product design is a stage in a larger value chain, which starts with a market need and ends when that need is met by a great solution. We design for every step in this process, distilling its complexity into a single, striking object. For example, start with the FSC-certified teak plantation, and end with the manufacturing of a line of chopping boards and kitchen accessories for Teak Haus.
We also collaborate with architects, interior designers, and construction companies in developing architectural elements and installations. We bridge the gap from an architect’s sketch to a ten thousand square feet wood ceiling installation for Dine in a building designed by SOA and JSa. We understand the design intention and translate it into a feasible product for a specific, real-life application.
