Within the Environmental Recreational Space La Ribereña, located on the banks of the Zahuapan River in Tlaxcala, there stands an architectural development that aims to be an emblem of inclusive and sustainable design. For this project, Tuux has been responsible for designing the informational panels, a large-scale model of the Zahuapan River, and new children's playgrounds. The garden's design was conceived to create a space where children, teenagers, and adults can refresh themselves while learning and having fun.
The centerpiece of the project is a large-scale water model that schematically reproduces the topography of the upper Atoyac basin. This fountain-model, whose design is as organic as it is aesthetically pleasing, transforms the garden into a space of exploration and enjoyment, inviting visitors to understand the geography of the Zahuapan River and its basin. The children's play area, inspired by cultural and historical elements of the region, is another highlight and a must-visit destination for families coming to the garden. From a boat reminiscent of Tlaxcala's brigantines to a temple evoking figures from pre-Hispanic codices, each playground invites fun, learning, and appreciation of local history.
The project also integrates informational panels made of steel and wood, strategically dispersed throughout the garden. These panels offer visitors a variety of information about the fauna and flora of the Zahuapan River, the history of the place, the river's sanitation project, and details about the La Ribereña Garden itself. Together, these panels are a key element in communicating the riparian recovery project, the Zahuapan River sanitation, and the transformation of public spaces.
Ultimately, the La Ribereña Garden also seeks to be a statement of respect and appreciation for nature and history. Every element, from the fountains to the playground and the panels, has been designed with an educational purpose and a consideration for sustainability. The result is a space that invites fun, exploration, and reflection, celebrating the symbiotic relationship between the community and the natural environment.
